Thisstandardisissuedunderthe xeddesignationA276;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(´)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.

1.Scope*

1.1Thisspeci cationcovershot- nishedorcold- nishedbarsexceptbarsforreforging(Note1).Itincludesrounds,squares,andhexagons,andhot-rolledorextrudedshapes,suchasangles,tees,andchannelsinthemorecommonlyusedtypesofstainlesssteels.Thefree-machiningtypes(Note2)forgeneralcorrosionresistanceandhigh-temperatureservicearecoveredinaseparatespeci cation.
