Teaching Ideology

New curriculum for English advocates quality-oriented education. Therefore, students’ overall development should be highly stressed. Teachers should not only focus on the knowledge teaching, but also put importance on strengthen students’ ability of communication and independent thinking. Thus, teachers will adopt situational teaching and task-based teaching which make students more concentrated and willing to learn.

The passage is called “Nelson Mandela-a modern hero” taken from

Unit 5,Book 1.It is told from a black worker-Elias who presents readers a generous and brave leader image from another side.

1.2. Analysis of learners

Study Need Knowledge Level Ss’ characteristics My students would like to absorb new knowledge, My students are senior 1..They have accumulated the basic knowledge of English. They are good at speaking and reading. My students are active in class. They are willing to express their feelings and share with others.

Knowledge objectives Ability objectives After this class, students are able to 1) know some stories and information about Nelson Mandela. 2) learn about miserable situation of black people in South Africa. After this class, students are able to 1) Generalize some information into simple words 2) Use \think\agree\my opinion\express agreement or disagreement or opinions. 1) Learn from Nelson Mandela’s actions,encourage students to be persistent ,generous and brave. 2) Encourage students to cherish their lawful rights and interests and fight for them if necessary. 1:Guessing game can catch Ss’ attentions in class. 2:Each Ss should answer questions with full sentences which is a chance to practice their speaking abilities.(T should help Ss if necessary)
