【目的要求】

1. Familiarizing the students with basic vocabulary for this unit

2. Understanding how brothers or sisters relate to each other and the ways to hurt and to improve relations.

3. Giving the students an opportunity to develop people skills by practicing speaking based on the given cues in short discourse of two or three turns in conversation

4. Learning to understand and talk about family relationships through reading, discussion, and task-based activities

5. Learning the usage of the vocabulary and structures about the topic of this unit. 【重点与难点】

【目的要求】

1. Familiarizing the students with basic vocabulary for describing general impressions of a person, someone’s emotional changes, behavior, social positions, titles and commenting on personalities

Unit 3 Saved by His Mistakes

【目的要求】

1. Familiarizing the students with words and expressions for describing difficult or problematic situations, fear, solving problems, and rescue work.

2. Learning to understand ways to describe a critical situation and the feeling one has when a stated

danger is near. Learning how to manage and solve the problems in the guided listening activity. 3. Developing the ability to talk about survival skills and related expressions through bringing information gaps in pair work.

4. Learning to describe people’s adventure by reading the story about the boy’s adventurous hunting trip and working on the related activities.

5. Learning the vocabulary and grammar points in this unit. 【重点与难点】

1. Learning to understand ways to describe a critical situation and the feeling one has when a stated danger is near. Learning how to manage and solve the problems in the guided listening activity. 2. Learning to describe people’s adventure by reading the story about the boy’s adventurous hunting trip and working on the related activities.

Unit 4 Glue

【目的要求】

1. Familiarizing the students with the basic vocabulary in this unit to handle small gadgets in every day life.

2. Having the students work out the function of various small stationery objects. such as a stapler, paper clips, an eraser, file folders, etc.

3. Learning to understand and talk about exaggerated and false advertisements through reading, discussion, and task-based activities.

1. Having the students work out the function of various small stationery objects.

Observing and thinking:

1. Ask the students to observe their lives by finding out the following examples: a. Exaggerated role of the computer

b. Exaggerated role of certain methods of teaching English

c. Exaggerated role of certain machines to help you learn English overnight d. Exaggerated role of certain medicines in life ―Cure-all medicine - Panacea‖ etc.

2. Have the students choose one of the examples mentioned above and then ask them to write a composition about 300 words including the following points: a. Where and when did the example take place?

b. How did the manufacturer or the media ―blow the balloon‖? c. What is the truth? Did you try it and what was the result?

d. Analyze why people fell prey to the exaggerations? (No need to be too hostile to this phenomenon. It may be a chance for a good laugh.)

2. Understanding that learning language is not easy work through listening and discussion activities.

4. Learning to understand and talk about the concept of bargaining through discussing, reading, summarizing the reading passage.
