In a small town, there lived a poor but vigorous(生机勃勃的) family named Petefishes. Elmer Petefish did not work very hard, though he had twelve kids.
One day, a grocery store in the village caught fire. But the old fire engine broke down. The villagers tried their best to put out the fire, but there were not enough of them and the fire got bigger and bigger.
Elmer, living in his old house, did not know what was going on in the village. But he had to buy some groceries, so he loaded his family into his truck—his wife and twelve kids, and started down the hill for the store.
