W: Hi, Mike. Have you decided where to go for your holiday?
M: Yesterday, I was thinking about going somewhere in Africa, somewhere like Egypt. But my parents suggested somewhere in Europe, like Austria or Germany. Finally, I decided on France.
2
W: British Airway. Good morning!
M: Hello! My name is John Hill. I didn’t get my luggage when I arrived here yesterday. W: Yes, sir. I’ll put you on to the Lost-Found office. Just a second, please! 3
M: Hello! Er…I’d like to join a new language course.
W: Yes, sir. That starts next week. The whole course is three terms. That’s 120 dollars.
M: I see. And what about for just one term?
W: Well, if you pay per term, it’s 50 dollars, or 90 dollars for two terms. M: OK. Thanks!

W: I bought this fish to cook for dinner tonight. But it doesn’t look all that fresh to me now. Would you say it’s all right to eat?
M: Let’s take a look. Oh…If I were you, I wouldn’t even think of it.

M: Hello! When does the next train leave for London, please?
W: Well, there are two trains to London, both leaving at 8 o’clock. The slow train gets to London at ten o’clock, and the fast one gets there at 9.
M: All right, I’ll take the fast train.

M: Susan, what happened?
W: Well, three teenagers ran out of the school and stole my new car. While they were driving the car away, they started arguing, and drove the car straight into a tree. M: Oh, No!
W: My car was badly damaged. But luckily the kids were not seriously hurt. They got arrested, but were soon sent back to the school. I was already thinking of getting another car. Maybe a second-hand one this time.

W: Hi, Tom! What did you do last week?
M: Well, I had a busy one. I wrote three essays at school, fixed my car over the weekend, and had to work every night at a restaurant until ten o’clock.
W: Emm, that’s too bad.
M: It was, believe me. So how was your week?
W: Actually, wasn’t bad. I played tennis a couple of times, and watched several movies. I went to the beach with friends on Friday, and took a drive with Jack on Saturday. 8
W: Spring’s Box office. This is Linden speaking. Can I help you?
M: Yeah, I want a ticket for Harry Potter on October 4.
W: Harry Potter? I’ll just check it for you. October 4. No, I’m sorry, sir. We’ve sold out.
M: What about the other days, the third or the fifth?
W: Yes, we’ve got a few tickets left on the third.
M: Oh, Great! How much is it for just one ticket?
