This is the first period of the unit.So it is important to get the students to know that they will learn to give a personal reaction and express their strong feeling using exclamatory sentences in this unit.At the beginning the teacher should lead the students to learn some festivals and description words,and get the students to practice the target language in listening and speaking.We learn new words and expressions in conversations.After the students have some language practice,they can learn the new patterns and the objective clauses.New words and expressions are also main points in the first period of a unit.We can learn them during practice.Do

not separate them from the meaning group.

The Second Period—Section A(3a-4c)

Key words & phrases: steal,lay,dessert,garden,admire,tie,the Mid-Autumn Festival,fly up to,lay out Key sentences: 1.There are many traditional folk stories about this festival.However,most people think that the story of Chang'e is the most touching.

In this period,we should provide students with reading practice using the target language.Students have an opportunity to test their reading comprehension in 3b.They will learn new words and expressions by reading practice.The culture of the traditional festival is very important in the period.Students should know the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival and use the language to disseminate culture.

Learning grammar is an important task in this period.We always learn grammar when we have learned enough language.Students can practice grammar by using what they have learned.After they learn the structure of the objective clause and the exclamatory sentences in the grammar focus frame,we give the students opportunity to use the grammar knowledge in writing activities.So some written work is necessary after speaking and reading.

The Third Period—Section B(1a-1d)

Teaching Important Points 【教学重点】

Key words & phrases: treat,trick or treat,dress up as… Key sentences: 1.—What have you learned about Halloween?

—I know it's a popular festival in North America and it's on October 31st. 2.—What do you like most about this festival? —I think it's fun to dress up as cartoon characters!

3.“Trick or treat” means kids will play a trick on you if you don't give them a treat. Key structure: Practice the objective clause in listening.
