3.BASICPROFILE

Thebasicprofileofthethreaddefinedbelowisthetheoreticalprofilecorrespondingtothebasicdimensions,namely:majordiameter,pitchdiameter,minordiameter.

4.TOLERANCESYSTEMS

Threadsmaybeproducedinvariousdegreesofaccuracycalled\class\Thetoleranceclassissymbolisedbyafigureandaletter.

ThefigureindicatesthesizeofthetoleranceDEVIATIONinrelationtothebasicprofile.

TheletterindicatesthetolerancePOSITIONinrelationtothebasicprofilewhichcorrespondstopositionHorh.Deviationsmaybe:3–4–5–6–7–8–9.Positions:GorHfornuts,e,gorhforscrews.

Note:Donotconfuseforexample:6H/6g(nut6H,screw6g)withISOsmoothadjustmentssystemH6/g6.5.CHOICEOFTOLERANCES

Thechoicemustbemadeconsideringeachelementofthethreadedassemblyseparately.Theaimistodefinetheinternalorexternalthreadofthepartandnottheconstitutionoftheassembly,whichmustbedeterminedatthedesignstage.

Forthisreason,alltheassemblycombinationsderivingfrom§5.1and5.2areacceptable.Unlessotherwisespecified,toleranceclassesapplytothefinishproductnotcoated.Forcoatedproducts:

Aftercoating,themaximummateriallimitsshallnotatanypointexceedthelimitscorrespondingtopositionHandhrespectively.

TheconditionsforcheckingthedimensionallimitsofcoatedthreadsaredeterminedbynormeB113180.Note:Forstresscalculations,thedeviationabouttheminordiameterofthescrewaregiveninthestandardISO965/3.5.1.MEDIUMQUALITY

Forthreadsincurrentuse,useinpreferencetoleranceclass6Hforthenutand6gforthescrew(see§Mediumqualityforthreadsincurrentuse).

Forthreadswithalengthofengagementgreaterthan2dorwhichreceivearelativelythickcoating,usetoleranceclass6Gforthenutand6eforthescrew(see§Mediumqualityforthreadswiththickcoating).5.2.FINEQUALITY

Forprecisionthreadssubjectedtoahighworkrateorforwhichthereisadangerofloosening,usetoleranceclass4Hforthenutand5h4hforthescrew,i.e.5hforthepitchdiameterand4hforthemajordiameter(see§Finequality).Thisquality,forexceptionaluse,doesnotpermitthedepositofacoating.

6.THREADSIZELIMITS

Fornutsaswellasscrews,theactualrootprofileofthethreadshouldnotatanypointexceedthebasicprofile.ThedefinitionofthethreadrootradiusisgivenbytheinternationalstandardISO965/1.
