Listening script of Exercise C Nice to meet you everyone. My name is Kate Black and I’m from the Human Resources Department. Before I give an introduction to the company and its organization, I’d like to go through some things you need to know before you start your new jobs here. All staff have to clock in when they arrive and clock out when they leave. You can find your time card in your Practical Learning information pack. How about the working hours? Full-time staff have to work a 40-hour week. Our common weekday working hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but as you know, we have a flexible time system which means you are allowed to start work from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. if you like. During busy times, especially in the middle and at the end of the year, you’ll probably have to work overtime, but this can only be allowed by the department manager and is normally compensated(补偿)by overtime pay. All of you have a paid holiday every year, but all public holidays are not included, of course. The paid holiday will be 10 days for those who have worked within 5 years, 15 days within 10 years and increase to 30 days at most. But you have to report to the HR Department when you start and finish your holiday. There is a contact list of our company in the New Staff Handbook, and you have to take good care of it. And finally, money! Salaries are paid every month to your bank account, but it’s usually done on the second working day of the following month. For part-time staff, you will be paid according to the time you spend on the work and you can work at home most of the time. That’s all I have to tell you. Any questions so far? Key to Exercise C 1.
