Although the ICS emphasize on control function while the OMDS put more attention on the data acquisition, signal analysis and save of long-running data, the “configurable” approach during the development of ICS can make the OMDS well adapt to various machinery and become “flexible”. Additionally, the OMDS become more smarted by integrating the information fusion methods and neutral network with normal frequency-spectrum analysis methods, and enhance the capability of fault diagnosis and safety assessment for rotating machinery [7].
