Vegetables, Fruits, and Healthy Eating

Ⅰ. Introduction

In current society, a large number of people are in poor health. The main reason is that most of them don’t pay much attention to their eating habits. Healthy eating is so important that everyone should take it seriously. It’s most important to know healthy foods, benefits of healthy eating, and healthy eating tips. Ⅱ. Healthy Food

Firstly,it’s essential for us to lean something about healthy food. Stephen R. Covey once said that the physical dimension involves caring effectively for our physical body,and eating the right kinds of foods is very important [2]. Food provides us with growth and health of various nutrients necessary for survival. As a famous saying goes, “You are what you eat.”[4] So if we want to have a good health, we must pay attention to our diet, and eat healthy food. But what is healthy food?

We can’t give a clear definition to healthy food, but it’s a truth universally acknowledged, that healthy food includes all kinds of foods, such as vegetables, fruits, cereals, meat, and healthy drinks, and so on. Most people believe that vegetables and fruits almost do any harm to our health. Indeed vegetables and fruits are rich in all kinds of nutrition, especially vitamin, which can enhance our immunity. \true recommendations for a healthy diet. Also, cereals are good for our body, because of fiber. Confused by fiber? Well, you are not alone. Most people are. But you do not have to know all the ins and outs of fiber to get benefit from it. When you eat a healthy diet rich in whole grains, you usually get most of the fiber you’ll need. Some people will ask, “If we eat

vegetables, fruits, and cereals everyday, does it means we will have a good health?” I will tell you firmly, “No!” Richard Corliss once claimed that vegetarians are not healthy enough in his article. Those who have a balance diet are true health [1]. Vegetables, fruits, and cereals can not provide enough protein for us. And lack of protein can cause growth failure, loss of muscle mass, decreased immunity, weakening of the heart and respiratory system, and death. So in order to keep healthy, we also need to eat a variety of meat. Last but not least, we should attach importance to what we drink. Actually, some drinks can make contribution to our health as well, such as milk, and wine, and so on. We can get calcium from milk, which is the key for healthy bones. Getting enough calcium from childhood through adulthood helps build bones up and then helps slow the loss of bone as we age. As for wine, it also can do well to our health.

Ⅲ. Benefits of Healthy Eating

Secondly, leaning what benefits of healthy eating also has great significance. We all know that we should eat healthy, but may be we don’t know exactly why. Eating healthy has numerous benefits that go beyond obvious nutritional value. From beauty, to health to better sleep, a good diet brings about many positive changes. So this is why we need to eat healthy food.

There are so many positive benefits of healthy eating. On one hand, healthy food can give us more energy. On the other hand, it is one of the best things we can do to prevent healthy problem. If we start eating a healthy diet, we will notice some things right away. If we eat healthy, we will have more energy. With this energy, we won't feel as hungry, because our body is getting what it needs. At the same time, we will be able to deal with everyday stress

more easily. We will think more clearly and be better able to focus. And we will have more energy to do our daily tasks and might even discover that we can push ourselves harder when we exercise. So let’s have a healthy diet, and we will feel more energetic everyday. What’s more, if we eat a healthy diet and stick it throughout your life, we will experience preventive health care. This is long term benefits, and we can’t aware of its benefits at once. Gradually, we will not get sick so often because we will have a stronger immune system. And we will decrease our risk of heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and countless other disease. Most people believe that healthy eating is so helpful. “You will most likely live a longer, healthier, happier life just by eating right. Genetics are a risk factor for many diseases but a healthy diet can help decrease your odds of getting a particular disease just by giving your body what it needs and avoiding foods that cause problems.” [5] So let’s stick with our healthy diet, and we will prevent healthy problem throughout our life. Ⅳ. Healthy Eating Tips

Finally, it is also important to have a good knowledge of healthy eating tips. With the improvement of people’s living standards, how to eat healthy has become a common pursuit. Eating healthy is a matter of eating those foods which benefit us. But how can we have a healthy eating?

There have lots of healthy eating tips, personally speaking, eating regular meals and paying attention to food choice all the time is extremely vital. We should eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. Skipping meals can lead to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in overeating. When you're very hungry, it's also tempting to forget about good nutrition. Snacking between meals can help curb hunger, but don't eat so much that your snack

becomes an entire meal. Eat regular meals so that we can absorb energy and nutrition which we need from three meals. Besides, we should balance our food choice over time. Not every food has to be \food high in fat, salt or sugar, select other foods that are low in these ingredients. If we miss out on any food group one day, make up for it the next. Our food choices over several days should fit together into a healthy pattern. Most importantly, we should not eat too much sugar and not drink too much alcohol. On the one hand, eating too much sugar can cause obesity. Getting fat is not good for our heath. “Sugar is getting a bad reputation. It is reported that our national overindulgence in fructose and other sugars is driving the epidemics of obesity, diabetes and other illnesses.”[6] Fat has many bad effects within the body, and it even affects cancer risk. So we should eat less sugar as possible. One the other hand, drinking too much does harm to our health as well. We talk about wine is good for health above, but it doesn’t mean we should drink it lavishly. As the article says, excessive intake of alcohol raises one’s risks for cancers of the breast, mouth, pharynx, and esophagus [3]. In fact, heavy drinkers also have the risk of high blood pressure, and heart disease. To make matters worse, some people even drive after drinking, which can cause traffic accidents easily. So we can’t drink too much at any time. Enough is enough. Ⅴ. Summary and Conclusion

As a proverb goes: “A good healthy body is worth more a crown in gold. ” But many of us don't feel dearness and sweetness of a robust health until struck by sickness. Most people believe that nothing is more important than wealth, because without wealth they would have noting. However, wealth and health do not always go hand in hand. As the famous author Ken Blanchard said, “Early in life, people give up their health to gain wealth…In later life,

people give up some of their wealth to regain health!” In reality, health is most important. So we should pay more attention to our health, especially attach more importance to our eating habits.
