Hi Tomasso,
I had the same problem during the pre-evaluation tests of SLES10. I did a local workaround, by editing the file control.xml in the sapinst installation directory. First search the term
this.swapSize
and replace all after the equals sign with your actual values. Then do same steps with this.ramSize. The last step is to clean the function this.performChecks. Now save the file and restart the installation again.
This workaround should be obsolete with the next version of sapinst.
By the way - Ubuntu is NOT supported by SAP, so if you have more trouble installing SAP on Ubuntu, you should change to supported distributions, e.g. Redhat Enterprise Linux or SuSE Linux Enterprise Server.
