Humans have five senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. We use these senses every day of our lives when we work, play, eat and drink. Animals have senses too, and sometimes they work __1__ better than ours. We have our food prepared for us – but animals need to find their own food using their senses. Every day, it is easy to see advertisements in English all round us. Look at your own bags and clothes, and at the bags and clothes of your classmates. How many different advertisements can you see with English words?

Often bags and clothes show the name of the company that made them. This is a popular form of advertising. A special picture or symbol (符号) called a logo is sometimes used. Logos appear on many different products, form sports shoes to chocolate bars. They are popular because when you see a logo, it is hard to forget that product or company.

Many people buy a product because it is made by a certain company. In fact, some people will only buy a product which is made by a famous company. They think it proves that they are fashionable and have good taste.

It is common to see advertisements on TV and hear from on the radio. Most advertisements are very short. Sometimes the advertisements use an English slogan. This is usually a short phrase which is easy for people to say and remember. Nike, for example, has a simple English slogan which is used all round the world: “Just do it”. Advertisements often use funny situation as well. It is simple to remember an entertaining advertisements.

All Advertisements are designed to make people buy a product. An advertisement for a soft drink. For example, might show a group trendy (赶潮流的) young people who are having fun. The young people are all drinking the soft drink. Advertisements are saying to you, “Why don’t you buy this drink and be like these people? You can be young, modern and trendy too”.

You might think that advertisements do not affect (影响) you, but next time you buy a soft drink, ask yourself this question: Why am I buying this product?

My name is Lin Hui. I like to tell stories about people who work together. What is even better is when countries help each other and build a good friendship. An excellent e_______ of this happened when Britain and China worked together o bring the Milu deer back to China.
