1 / 17

B. you pay for the items D. you still have to pay

17. What's the las date that you can return the items and get your money back? A.3 March.

从第一个表格可知买的日期是 16 March ,从 表二“no more than 14 days after buying for an exchange or get your money back\可知 14 天内包换,所以最晚的可退货是时间是 30 March,故选 C.

18. According to the receipt, which may NOT be a way to get to know the shop? A. Address.

B.16 March. C 30 March. D.15 April.

“Hi! How are you?” The woman smiled as she took the seat next to me on the airplane. She had to lower herself slowly, trying hard to push her fat body into the seat, filling all available space.

I didn't reply and moved a little towards the window. She repeated her greeting in a friendly voice.

“Hi,” I replied.

“My name is Laura, I’m form Britain. How about you?” she talked excitedly. “Malaysia.” I said coldly.

Laura started a conversation with me, talking no notice of my unfriendly reactions. Her voice was warm and caring. She was thoughtful. When we were served drinks and meals she made sure that I had room to move in my seat. “I don't want to make you uncomfortable with my elephant size!” she said with great sincerity(真诚).

To my surprise, the face that I had dislike hours before slowly showed nice smile --- lively and calm at the same time. I couldn't help but let down my guard.

Laura was interesting. During our conversation, Laura managed to make every person on the

plane who served us walk away laughing at her jokes,

I asked Laura, “Have you ever thought about losing some weight? You aren't worried about the diseases that come with being overweight?”

“Not at all, because I eat healthily and walk regularly,” she said. “This may not be scientific, but I believe in my heart that the people who get diseases are the ones who worry all the time, I'm this size because I was born to be big! There is more to life than worrying about weight all day long.”

She drank her wine. “Besides, God gives me so much happiness that I need a bigger body to hold all of it! If I lose weight, I'll lose my happiness.”

Surprised by her unusual reasoning, I smiled. I suddenly realized that Laura was the most beautiful woman I had ever met in my life.

19. Why did the writer move towards the window at the very beginning? A. The writer was not very happy that day. B. The writer had hoped to enjoy the trip alone. C. The writer didn't like Laura's size. D. The writer was not good at making friends.

[解析] 定位到第一段最后一句话“she had to lower herself slowly, trying hard to push her fat body into the seat, filing all available space\可知这个女人非常胖,她艰难地坐下来后和 作者打招呼,但作者没有搭理她还往窗边移了移,可知道作者并不喜欢她的胖,因此答案选 C。

20. What made the writer feel comfortable later? A. Laura's warm and caring voice. C. Laura's lively and calm look.

[解析] 从文章第十行的句子“she said with great sincerity,\以及文章第十一行的句子\ my surprise, the face that I had disliked hours before slowly showed a nice smile --- lively and calm all the same time. I couldn't help but let down my guard.\可知这个女人并没因为作者之前的不喜欢而改变对作者的态度,从始至终,她表现出她的真诚和积极的生活态度让作者最后改变了自己的态度所以这题选 B。 21. Laura thought that A. being yourself is important to keep healthy B. losing weight can help people feel relaxed C. worrying all the time can help to lose weight

3 / 17

Because l eat healthily and walk regular…besides, God gives me so much happiness that I need a bigger body to hold all of it If I lose weight. I'll lose my happiness\可知这个女人没有因为自己的胖而自卑,相反的是, 她享受生活,她很快乐所有可以得出,Laura 认为做自己才是最重要的,因此答案选 A; 从 文章倒数第三行的句子\可知 B 选项错误; 从文章倒 数 第 六 的 句 子“ believe in my heart that the people who get diseases are the ones who worry all the time”可知 C、D 选项错误。 22. B. The early bird catches the worm. D. One tree can't make a forest.

C

Many people spend their vacations doing nothing on a beach, but Kirsty Ross wanted to do something different. “I spent three weeks working in the hot sun, digging to find pieces of old cups and plates,” she says. “I worked really hard all day and I slept in a tent. My friends though I was crazy, but I had an amazing time. It was my best vacation ever!”

Kirsty was working for a volunteer program in Tunisia in North Africa. Groups of twenty-five young volunteers work together on archaeological sites to find important information about the past. The volunteers have to be very careful, because it's important not to damage the things they find. Many of them work at Tunisia's biggest archaeological site in Carthage, but some of them work in other important sites in the country.

Kirsty explains why she chose this vacation. “I've always been interested in history, and Tunisia

has a lot of very important archaeological sites. People were living in Carthage 3,000 years ago. I love being in places that are so old. It was exciting to find pots and other things that people used every day.”

It was harder for Kirsty than for some of the others. “I come from Alaska which is a cold place.” She says. “It was hard for me to work under the hot North African sun. But 4 / 17

it was a wonderful chance to meet people from other countries and to learn about the past. It changed my life. Now I'm hoping to learn more about it in college.”

23. The underlined word “damage” means A. hide [答案] B

B。 24. All the following about Kirsty are true EXCEPT A. Kirsty thought the archaeology work was hard but interesting. B. Kirsty spent three weeks working for the volunteer program. C. Kirsty was excited about finding things people used every day. D. Kirsty enjoyed working under the sun in Tunisia very much.

[解析] 从文章最后一段“was harder for Kirsty than for some of the others” 以及“It was harder for me to work under the hot North African sun”看出,Kirsty 没有能够享受在阳光 下工作,因此 D 选项错误。根据第一段“I worked really hard all day and I slept in a tent. My friends thought I was crazy, but I had an amazing time. It was my best vacation ever!” 可知 A 选项正确;根据第一段“I spent three weeks working in the hot sun, digging to find pieces of old cups and plates,”可知 B 选项正确,根据倒数第二段“It was exciting to find pots and other things that people used every day.”

25 According to the passage, Kirsty may hope to study A. the art of designing buildings. C. cultures and things of the past.
