DESCRIPTION

Production is strictly controlled and follows an extensive setof instructions established for reproducibility. Ahomogeneous film of metal alloy is deposited on a high gradeceramic body (85 % Al2O3) and conditioned to achieve thedesired temperature coefficient. Nickel plated steeltermination caps are firmly pressed on the metallized rods.Special laser devices are used repeatedly to achieve thetarget value by slowly and smoothly cutting a helical groovein the resistive layer without damaging the ceramics. Afurther conditioning is applied in order to stabilise thetrimming result. Connecting wires of electrolytic copperplated with pure tin are welded to the termination caps. Theresistors are covered by protective coating designed forelectrical, mechanical and climatic protection.Theterminations receive a final pure tin on nickel plating. Scriptmarking designates the resistance value plus coded TCRand tolerance.

The result of the determined production is verified by anaccelerated ageing (burn-in) and extensive testingprocedure performed on 100 % of the individual resistors.Only accepted products are stuck directly on the adhesivetapes in accordance with IEC 60286-1.

ASSEMBLY

The resistors are suitable for processing on automaticinsertion equipment and cutting and bending machines.Excellent solderability is proven, even after extendedstorage. They are suitable for automatic soldering usingwave or dipping. The encapsulation is resistant to allcleaning solvents commonly used in the electronics industry,including alcohols, esters and aqueous solutions. Thesuitability of conformal coatings, if applied, shall be qualifiedby appropriate means to ensure the long-term stability of thewhole system.

APPROVALS

Where applicable, the resistors are tested in accordance withCECC40101-806 which refers to EN 60115-1 and EN 140100.
